Members Area

Founded in 1979, The Railway Performance Society (RPS) tracks and records railway speed records and railway performance in the UK and on the continent.

The purpose of the Society is to be the leading authority on train / railway performance around the world. The society brings together people from a wide variety of ages and backgrounds who are interested in the power and performance of railways around the world.

Whether it be the 320km/h (200mph) top speed of TGV’s that allows journeys of over 1000km to be achieved in just 3 ½ hours or the romance of steam locomotives climbing mountain summits – the society has something for you.

Today we have almost 200 members throughout the UK , as well as members in France , United States and Australia amongst others. The wide travels of the membership allow the Society magazine to feature articles on performance on railway administrations in countries as diverse as Greece , Poland , Australia , United States and South Africa .
